* Mutantes é e sempre será uma das bandas mais importantes (senão a mais), do rock nacional. Surgida em meados dos anos 60, pelos irmãos Baptista (Arnaldo e Sérgio) e Rita Lee, os Mutantes mesclavam psicodelia com ritmos brasileiros e latinos, entre outros. A banda uniu-se a tropicália, sendo um dos elementos mais importantes daquele movimento, junto a Tom Zé (responsáveis pela loucura e irreverência). Com instrumentos e equipamentos de efeitos, fabricados por Cláudio Baptista, irmão mais velho dos Baptista, os Mutantes inovaram o rock, sendo precursores do rock psicodélico e progressivo no país. Com discos memoráveis (todos), a banda contou em sua formação (talvez o momento mais expressivo da banda), com Dinho (bateria) e Liminha (baixo), hoje um dos maiores (senão o maior), produtor musical do Brasil. A banda nunca foi tão famosa enquanto estava em seu auge produtivo, mas deixou um legado ao rock nacional e mundial. Uma banda única, como poucas, dona de um estilo inconfundível e rico em possibilidades. Contava com um dos maiores guitarristas já visto e ouvido por estas terras, uma vocal (Rita) de grande personalidade, compositora, criativa, e um gênio-poeta: Arnaldo Baptista (um dos maiores artistas do Brasil). A banda começou a se desestruturar aos poucos, inicialmente com a saída de Rita Lee, depois com a perda irreparável do Arnaldo. Sergio manteve os Mutantes, gravando um disco muito bom (1974), mas sem a mesma genialidade dos anteriores (devido principalmente a falta de Arnaldo). “Tudo foi feito pelo sol” é um disco mais datado, um dos grandes do progressivo nacional, menos psicodélico, um disco mais virtuoso, técnico, menos criativo eu diria, mas que tem grandes momentos. O disco que mais tenho apreço é o “Jardim Elétrico” (1971), talvez por ser o primeiro que ouvi, ainda no início dos anos 90 - um dos discos que me deixaram assim como sou hoje, meio psicodélico (hehe!). A banda voltou nos anos 2000, gravando um dvd a sua altura, com Sérgio, Dinho e o grande Arnaldo da formação ‘clássica’. A banda em 2009 gravou um disco novo (e muito bom, diga-se de passagem), não vou comparar com o passado aqui, pois o momento é outro e o que ficou, ficou... Não pude ver a banda em seu retorno, com o Arnaldo (que era um desejo meu), mas vou poder vê-la na virada do ano (sem Arnaldo, o que me deixa menos empolgado), no Psicodália (festival de rock), que na virada, desta vez, será em Rio Negrinho-SC. Enfim, Mutantes é uma grande banda, uma das mais geniais da história do rock - e da música moderna - inspiração para o mundo dos criativos...
